Responsibilities

An ancillary lead food preparation employee who performs a variety of cooking responsibilities for patient, residents, cafeteria and special functions. Is responsible for food preparation, cooking, menu planning, recipe development, sanitation, and training of relief cooks.

Qualifications

Minimum 1 years institutional food production and cooking or equivalent.

           

Education/Experience:   Ability to read, speak, write and follow written and oral instructions. For positions as First Cook and Second Cook, High School Diploma, Associate Degree or Certificate from an accredited institution preferred.

 

Physical Demands: Position will primarily be light work requiring lifting up to 25 pounds with occasional lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasional bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling and reaching is required.  Position requires 100% standing or walking.  Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word is required.

 

Working Environment:            Position requires working in areas where temperature may be above normal, working with specialized equipment, frequent hand contact with water, working with cleaning chemicals, handling of hot foods, adhere to strict scheduling demand.  May have occasional exposure to chemical hazards vibration,  slippery surfaces, or noise that may result from performance of duties.
