Responsibilities

The Endoscopy Technician performs assigned patient care tasks and other related unit duties defined and delegated under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse and maintains a safe patient area to deliver quality and efficient health care.  The Endoscopy Technician participates in the daily plan of care for the patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. Functions as a team member in the Endoscopy Department and performs a variety of duties related to Endoscopy Patients and the daily operations of the unit, to include cleaning and maintenance of equipment, preparation and assisting with procedures.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Education:  Completion of a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or equivalent preparation and/or experience required. High School graduate or G.E.D. Equivalent preferred.

 

Minimum Experience: 1 year of prior experience in an endoscopy suite or Central Sterile within the last 2 years preferred. Knowledge of basic aseptic techniques.

                                                           

Required Certification/Registration: BLS certification current

 

Physical Demands:  Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking. Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patient. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching,

 

Working Conditions: Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances. May be exposed to unpleasant patient element. Subject to varying and unpredictable situation and occasionally to irregular work hours.
